"Marvel has had a long history of telling stories in new and compelling ways, and Viz is the perfect partner to help us continue that path. The partnership is a unique team up and it should be interesting to see how many traditional Marvel fans dip into the world of manga to follow the characters they know and love and, vice versa, how many manga fans use the books as a bridge over to the world of Marvel superhero comics. Marvel Meow is scheduled for release October 12 of this year, but Merc with a Mouth fans are going to have to wait until February 2022 to get their hands on Deadpool Samurai. RELATED: Assassin's Creed: Blade of Shao Jun Has the Right Amount of Fan Service Marvel Meow focuses on Captain Marvel's cat, Chewie, and all of the problems that the animal companion causes throughout the Marvel Universe for heroes and villains alike including Spider-Man, Iron Man, Thanos and even Galactus. The partnership will help bring some Marvel characters, including Spidey, to the world of manga in Marvel Meow and Deadpool Samurai. Yet another item can be added to the list for fans of manga now that Viz Media has announced a new partnership with Marvel.
Marvel also gets a boost from connecting with extremely popular Japanese properties, something for which this manga has quickly become known.Spider-Man fans are doing a lot of waiting around as hype builds for the web-slingers appearance in Marvel's Avengers, the third installment of his MCU series gets closer to release, and video game fans continue to speculate about the next follow up in Insomniac's series. And, thanks to his major role in the films, Thanos makes for a recognizable and thoroughly enjoyable target even for the most casual of fans. Horikoshi has been very open about his affection for American comics, and Marvel in particular, so the opportunity to bring his own creation into a Marvel story was no doubt a dream come true. Making this crossover a little more special is the fact that this chapter of Deadpool: Samurai features a special guest artist: Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of My Hero Academia, here to draw All Might. Related: Deadpool Reveals His True (Totally Bizarre) Connection to Spider-Man All Might ends the chapter by delivering his famed catchphrase, " I am here!" Deadpool not only recognizes All Might, but claims to have fought alongside him several years ago, in the rather infamous "Toxic Chainsaw" incident which has never been depicted. Fans of My Hero Academia immediately recognized the Detroit Smash used on Thanos as All Might's signature move, and sure enough, the musclebound number one hero has come to Deadpool's rescue, much to everyone's surprise. Instead, he finds himself cradled by a very different savior. Each fails, one after another, and as a last ditch effort, Deadpool attempts to call on Captain Marvel to help.
In the (rather absurd) context of the story, Deadpool and Sakura Spider attempt to do battle against Thanos, using everything from the Venom Symbiote to the Hulk to try to defeat him.
And, of course, what better series to mix with Marvel than Jump's own wildly popular superhero series My Hero Academia? While this Deadpool: Samuraimanga has been exceptionally popular, and it's featured a number of cameos from other Marvel heroes, it's only in the most recent chapter that Shonen Jump's own heroes have gotten into the mix. The latest chapter of the new Deadpool manga that's been running in Shonen Jump just dropped, and it features a surprising cameo.
